Stephanie Beard Snyder-President
Steph Snyder grew up in Arenzville, which instilled in her the value of small town living.  She has a passion to help New Berlin continue it's small town charm while offering a variety of amenities and foster it's sense of community.  She is a middle school special education teacher for Springfield Public Schools.  She received her undergraduate degree from Eastern Illinois University and holds two master's degrees from University of Illinois - Springfield in Educational Administration and Educational Law.  She has lived in New Berlin for the last 8 years with her husband James.  She can be reached at or 217-370-3737.

Heather Crone-Vice President

Heather Crone is the newest member to the Board of Directors.  She works for the Illinois Department of Human Services-Division of Mental Health.  She has a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Illinois at Springfield.  She has a Masters degree in Public Administration from the University of Illinois at Springfield and is currently working towards a Masters degree in Community Development form Iowa State University. Kris Neuman- Treasurer
Kris Neuman is one of the original steering committee members of the NBACDL.  He was born and raised in New Berlin and proud to call New Berlin his home.  He and his wife, Stephanie are proud owners of Kountry Kids Learning Center and raise their two children who are currently in the New Berlin school district.  Kris comes from a farming family that is still actively farming today.  He has an associates degree in Business Administration.  Kris feels that New Berlin is a great place for families of all ages and would love to see New Berlin prosper and grow.


Liz Pensoneau - Reporter
Liz March Pensoneau is the retired editor of Outdoor Illinois magazine and has resided in Heritage Point at New Berlin since 1999. She is married to author and historian Taylor Pensoneau. Together they operate Downstate Publications and are available as consultants for writing and editing projects. She always has had a strong interest in community development and years ago founded a community service organization for the village of Palmyra that raised funds to purchase the town's street signs, basketball court and playground equipment.  She will serve in the volunteer role as reporter for the NBACDL.

Bill Richie
Bill a lifelong resident of New Berlin and lives with his wife Anna and their 3 children just outside of New Berlin.  He went to school at the University of Illinois - Urbana/Champaign and Logan University.  He currently owns and operates Richie Chiropractic with offices in Springfield & Waverly.


Amanda Surratt
Amanda, her husband Andy and their 2 children have been residents of New Berlin for the last 4 years.  She has an undergraduate degree from Illinois College and her master's degree from University of Illinois - Springfield.  She is a Professional School Counselor at Triopia High School.  She is looking forward to working and meeting other community members.
